Training Courses

Windsor International Horse Trials

I have put all the PROVISIONAL dates for 2004 on the Events page of this site. Please remember that, at this stage, these are only provisional, but I hope they will give you some idea of the events for which I shall be seeking volunteers next year. During the winter I shall endeavour to get the reply form up and working properly so that you can volunteer to Fence Judge for those Events directly on line.

There are three new Events on the list for next year, one at Amersham in Buckinghamshire, on March 21st and two at the at the same Venue - The Bath and West Showground at Shepton Mallet and are to run on the second weekend in March and the second weekend in October. The Bath and West is to be a new venture for me as I shall be the Organiser this time; time alone will tell whether this is a good idea! I shall, of course, be needing Fence Judges for this event but I hope to delegate the job of Fence Judge Steward to someone who can devote all their energies to that task only thus ensuring that the care if the volunteers, including the food and refreshments, is up to standard.

The other Event that is new to my list is the Windsor Three Day Event at the end of May. I was asked to take over the Fence Judge Steward job this year, but as the Event did not run there was nothing for me to do.

Windsor International Horse Trials

Windsor Horse Trials has undergone a major re-vamp during the past couple of years.

This year it will run a Three Day Event in the traditional format, including Steeplechase and Roads and Tracks and a new format International Team Challenge, both run over a new cross country course which has been re-sited to try and overcome the problems there have been with the ‘going’ in past years.

The new course will be developed over three to five years. The plan for this year is to give it a historical theme, with re-designed water fences and improvements to the steeplechase. The cross country will run clockwise, the opposite direction from before, with a combined track for the CCI and the Team Challenge.
